This is What We're Here For

We are pleased to welcome International Association of Fire Chiefs President John Sinclair to the Conference.  Chief Sinclair will bring us up to  speed on all of the  issues affecting fire service nationwide.  North Idaho Fire Chiefs representatives led by Conference Chair Chief Pat Riley and Department Host Chief Kenny Gabriel will welcome you to Coeur d'Alene.  Agency reports will take place Friday morning in breakout session style, then we will enjoy the opening of the tradeshow with lunch and afternoon networking with the vendors and IFCA Division breakout meetings.

Our opening keynote presentation on Friday afternoon will be Dr. David Griffin, On A Mission, LLC.

David Griffin, 36, was the driver of the first engine to respond to the disastrous 2007 Sofa Super Store fire that claimed the lives of nine of his fellow firefighters. Plagued with survivor’s guilt, he numbed himself with alcohol, painkillers, and blood sports so much so that it nearly cost him his life.  A turning point came in the days following a match with nationally ranked mixed-martial arts contender Houston “The Assassin” Alexander. For three days, he sat in darkness, his eyes swelled shut from the battering to his face. He asked himself how his lifestyle honored the nine who were dead.

“One can only sit around for so long and feel sorry for themselves until they have to get up and do something,” Griffin said.  Now, Griffin has completed a Doctorate of Education in organizational leadership and development, training organizations across the globe on the importance of moving away from "the way we've always done it" mentality. He speaks about the Sofa Super Store fire and has helped with massive reforms in how firefighters are trained as well as how executives lead their teams. Griffin has dedicated his life to spreading the message of change to all types of organizations including for-profit, non-profit, and public service.

Our program continues Friday with the opening Vendor Reception Sponsored by Three Crossed Bugles Sponsor Hughes Fire Equipment. Enjoy food, drinks and lots of fun and giveaways as you network with all of our important industry partners.

Saturday offers more opportunities to network with our vendors and then we have our Annual Business Meeting, including New Member Introductions & Pinning Ceremony.

This year's agenda is more robust and full of professional development opportunities than ever before!  A team of volunteers has created an extensive program featuring two tracks - Industry Leadership Updates & Training, and Fire Chief 101.  It will be difficult to select which sessions to attend, we know, but all presentations will be shared with members online after the event so you won't miss a thing.  A complete Conference Program is detailed online, most speakers are confirmed but the program is still subject to change.  Watch for program descriptions soon!

The Program continues Sunday morning with more tremendous breakout sessions, and the Conference Closing featuring a grand prize raffle, stay until the end and Don't Miss It!  Conference Registration>> Conference Lodging and Travel>> 2017 Conference Program>>
